EARLY CHILDHOOD IN MARÉ: CARE, WELL-BEING, AND POLICY ADVOCACY

Through the project “Early Childhood in Maré: Access to Rights and Care Practices”, Redes da Maré carried out, in 2023, the Diagnosis of Early Childhood in Maré, an unprecedented household survey with territorial coverage on the subject in favelas across the state of Rio de Janeiro.

In partnership with public schools in Maré, the project expands educational opportunities and strengthens teaching practices through training activities focused on territory, race, gender, rights, and education.

Digital Health in Maré is a pioneering SUS (Brazilian public health system) project that provides online consultations to residents of Maré, connecting them to professionals from the six Primary Health Care Units (UBS) in Maré and expanding access to public health care.

The Favela Food Festival is an initiative by Redes da Maré, carried out by the Maré de Sabores project and Casa das Mulheres da Maré, which promotes gastronomic diversity and enhances the entrepreneurial scene in the Maré favela group.
