The Permanent Forum for Racial Equality (FOPIR) is a coalition of mixed anti-racist organizations that aims to develop strategies and actions for diagnosis, mobilization, communication and political advocacy, developing debates about facing racism, black women and black youth.
The choice for the themes is related to the extremely vulnerable condition experienced by these historically marginalized groups in Brazilian society. FOPIR's actions aim to impact governments, parliamentarians, justice operators, the media, society and policy makers in the struggle for a democratic and inclusive state. With this in mind, each institution discusses these axes within its own strand.
FOPIR members are: Articulação de Organizações de Mulheres Negras Brasileiras (AMNB), Associação Brasileira de Pesquisadores Negros (ABPN), Centro de Estudos das Relações de Trabalho e Desigualdades (CEERT), Comissão de Jornalistas pela Igualdade Racial do Rio de Janeiro – Cojira-RJ, Grupo de Estudos Multidisciplinares da Ação Afirmativa (GEMAA/IESP-UERJ), Instituto de Estudos Socioeconômicos (INESC), Instituto de Pesquisas e Estudos Afro-Brasileiros (IPEAFRO), Observatório de Favelas – RJ , Odara - Instituto da Mulher Negra and Redes de Desenvolvimento da Maré. Redes has been actively participating in the meetings since before its official launch in November 2016 and has been thinking about institutional actions that could contribute to FOPIR's mission. In 2019, Redes da Maré joined the Executive Council of FOPIR together with Associação Brasileira de Pesquisadores Negros (ABPN) and Odara - Instituto da Mulher Negra.
