To understand the daily lives of Maré’s residents through research and surveys; to seek greater territorial articulation; to mobilize key figures and local institutions; to provide more tools for public policies and to spread partnerships for sustainable development. These are the missions and daily challenges of Redes da Maré Territorial Development Hub. Our multidisciplinary work, in constant interaction with the other axes of the institution, seeks to involve residents in the construction of a local development plan and structuring actions that has a direct impact on the quality of life of those who live in Maré. An engagement that tries to overcome negative representations of the favelas, emphasizing the inventive power of this populations, sharing contributions of these territories to the city. In 2018, the axis chose to prioritize four pillars: women and gender, harm reduction and drug policies, youth initiatives and social and environmental experiences.
